Daysift is a Chrome browser extension that provides instant search across your browsing history and work applications. It functions as a command palette (similar to Spotlight on Mac, Alfred, or Raycast) but for your browser.

## How it works

The extension uses an allowlist approach - it only indexes recognized work applications, not general browsing or personal sites.

## Privacy and security

Daysift is designed with privacy as a core principle:

- **Local-first**: All data is stored on your device in the browser's local storage. No cloud servers store your browsing data.
- **No account required**: Works immediately after install. No signup, no login, no email required for core features.
- **No tracking**: No analytics on your browsing behavior or search queries.
- **Allowlist-only**: Only indexes known work applications, not your entire browsing history.
- **AI is optional**: AI features require explicit opt-in consent. When used, only page titles and URLs are sent (not page content).
- **Data stays local**: Uninstalling the extension deletes all stored data.
